WTO to host event on easing trade barriers related to product origin requirements

The event will be opened by Elia N. Mtweve of Tanzania, the current chair of the WTO’s Committee on Rules of Origin. Representatives from WTO member governments, international organizations, academics and the private sector will offer their perspectives on the topic.

The event is open to all, with prior registration required. Further information is available here.

Rules of origin are the criteria needed to determine the national source of a product. Their importance is derived from the fact that duties and restrictions in several cases depend upon the source of imports.
